Knoxville's 'First Friday' block party rescheduled due to weather conditions

The city of Knoxville said they have rescheduled the block party to Friday, June 7.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — UPDATE (5/3): The city of Knoxville announced Friday they are rescheduling the First Friday Block Party due to the forecast for rain and possible thunderstorms. 

They have rescheduled the block party for the First Friday in June - June 7.

On that day, Gay Street between Jackson and Vine avenues will be open to pedestrians between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. The block party will begin at 5 p.m. and end at dark.

Knoxville leaders are hosting a block party on May 3 to celebrate First Friday, with the party starting at 5 p.m. and going until dark. 

The First Friday block party will feature live music and host over 30 local artists. 

"Twenty years ago, the community came together on the First Friday of every month in downtown Knoxville," Visit Knoxville said. "Over recent years, the celebration has extended throughout the city, encouraging people to venture out and enjoy great art and great company throughout all of Knoxville."

Due to the party, Gay Street between Jackson and Vine will be closed to vehicles starting at 3 p.m. on Friday.
