KPD: Man wanted for attempted first-degree murder facing charges after turning himself in

Jevess Craigmire was wanted for shooting and wounding a woman on Saturday, according to KPD.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — UPDATE (4/24): A man accused of shooting a woman and hitting her with his gun in East Knoxville is now facing several felony charges and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

The Knoxville Police Department said Jevess Craigmire turned himself in at the Public Safety Complex Monday morning. He was later arrested on Tuesday and booked into the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on charges of attempted first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, carjacking, possession of a weapon as a convicted felon, and employing a firearm with intent to go armed.

According to the arrest report, officers responded to a call at an apartment on Dandridge Avenue Saturday around 11 a.m.

Police said they found a woman had been shot several times and was severely beaten in the head and face. The woman survived and was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment. 

According to the woman, Craigmire waited for her outside her apartment early Saturday morning and shot her several times. She said she believed he tried to shoot at her while she was on the ground but missed. The victim said Craigmire then began hitting her with his gun.

According to police, Craigmire took the victim's purse and keys and drove away in her vehicle.

He is scheduled to appear in court on April 25 at 8:30 a.m. for a bond hearing.

Knoxville Police are looking for a man who is wanted for first-degree murder among other charges. 

27-year-old Jevess Craigmire is wanted for attempted first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery. This stemmed from a domestic shooting early Saturday morning at an apartment complex on Dandridge Avenue, KPD said. 

A 31-year-old woman was taken to an area hospital after being shot. She is in stable condition at this time, according to KPD.
