A woman in Chattanooga is trying to find the soldier who owns personal letters and photos found in 2014 in a Maryville yard sale.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A Chattanooga woman is hoping to return some special items belonging to a solider that she found at a yard sale, WRCB-TV reports.

Gwen Gott said she found the materials at a yard sale in Maryville in 2014.

The woman holding the yard sale had recently purchased a storage unit and was trying to get rid of the items.

When Gott saw the items had belonged to a soldier, she couldn't ignore them.

"I saw the pictures and the things from his children," Gott said. "Everyone who knows me knows I'm sentimental and I was like 'this has got to get back to this fella.' "

She said she carried the material in her car for the first six months, eventually bringing them inside her house.

She learned the soldier's name is Todd Reagan.

When she found a small phone book, she gave a few of the numbers a ring but got no answer.

But she didn't want to stop looking so she turned to WRCB in Chattanooga.

"Those are memories and things he may hold very dear to his heart and I hope so because I've held it dear to my heart," Gott said.

If you look inside the bag of items, you will find letters from his mother, birthday cards, and pictures of his daughter.

For now, she said she's keeping the items close by, hoping this story reaches the right person.

"I don't know the story of why it got where it was but I know the story of why I need to get it back to him," Gott said.
