ORPD: Suspect in custody after robbery in Oak Ridge

Investigators said Joshua Hutchins handed a note to tellers demanding money. No weapons were displayed or threatened. Hutchins was taken into custody Tuesday night.

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — UPDATE (Sept. 30, 7:55 a.m.):

The suspect, who has been identified as Joshua Hutchins, was taken into custody at 11:52 p.m. Tuesday. 

Hutchins was booked into the Anderson County Detention Facility on a robbery charge.  

UPDATE (Sept. 29, 9:20 p.m.): Officials said the suspect is being investigated in the robbery at Enrichment Federal Credit Union.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5'7", 140 pounds and was wearing a black face cover and a ball cap. Officials said he left the scene in an older model, four-door white Oldsmobile with hubcaps.

Oak Ridge Police said that a man robbed a bank at 201 South Illinois Avenue Tuesday evening. 

They said officials with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Oak Ridge Police Department were investigating the robbery. At 5:24 p.m., police said that they received a report of a bank robbery.

They said that a suspect handed a note to tellers demanding money. No weapons were displayed or threatened, according to a release from officials.

They said the suspect is a white man in his 30s with brown hair. He was seen wearing a gray and white ball cap, a black facemask and a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Officials were still at the scene by 7:30 p.m Tuesday. Anyone with information about the suspect should call ORPD at (865) 425-4399. Crime tips can also be submitted online, and information can be given anonymously.
