KCSO identifies man, 42, found shot to death in North Knox County

The Knox County Sheriff's Office said the man was found around 10 a.m. Monday at an apartment on Dry Gap Pike.

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — UPDATE 5 PM Wednesday: The man found shot to death Monday morning in a Halls area apartment has been identified as Michael Beatty, 42.

Knox County Sheriff's Office released Beatty's identity Wednesday.

Sheriff's authorities are asking for the public's help in the Dry Gap Pike case. If you have information about why Beatty was killed call 865-215-2243 or email crimetips@knoxsheriff.org.

The department's Major Crimes Unit is investigating.

PREVIOUS STORY: A man was found dead in North Knox County Monday morning, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

They said the man had been found shot and that he was found around 10 a.m. at 406 Dry Gap Pike. The body was sent to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center for an autopsy, officials said.

They said they believed the victim was in his early 40's, and that his identity is being withheld until the next of kin is notified.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office said they are investigating the man's death. Anyone with information should contact detectives at (865) 215-2243, according to officials. Callers can remain anonymous.
