BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — Three people were rushed to the hospital after a serious single-vehicle crash on Highway 321 Friday evening.

According to Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp, two males and a female were injured after their vehicle went off the parkway and flipped multiple times.

Crisp said two of the people inside the vehicle were airlifted to UT Medical Center via LIFESTAR, and one was taken by ambulance to Blount Memorial Hospital.

According to Crisp, police responded just before 6 p.m. Friday. He said the three were driving east out of town and in the passing lane when they eventually went off the side of the road -- hitting a mailbox. Crisp said it appeared the vehicle over-corrected before flipping numerous times and coming to rest in a field.

The status of the victims and extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.
