Santa's sleigh is for sale: Knoxville Center mall online liquidation sale ends Wednesday

If you ever walked around the mall and wanted to buy the tables and kiosks instead of the items on them, now's your chance.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Ever wanted to own Santa's sleigh from the mall? Wednesday is your last chance.

The Knoxville Center mall began an online liquidation sale on Dec. 5. When the clock strikes 6 p.m. on Dec. 18, bidding will end on an assortment of items from the mall. Many of the items include the chairs and tables from the food court, large kiosks and glass displays.

There's than just that for sale, though.

People can also bid on tools and office supplies, including a refrigerator. Holiday decorations are also up for auction, including Easter and Halloween decor.

Santa's sleigh is also up for sale, along with his display in the mall. As of Dec. 17, there were 65 bids on the sleigh and it was up to $670.

“This is the closing of an era, and while that is very sad and we wish it wouldn’t come to an end, let’s embrace the end the best way we can and bring something home with us," Natalie Deel, co-owner of JD's Realty and Auction, said. "So when it does finally close we have something already there and then we can embrace whatever new is going to happen.”

Anyone interested in bidding on items from the mall can do so through JD's Realty and Auction website, or by going to www.knoxvillemallauction.com.

There will be another auction in the spring after the mall has officially closed. Rather than being online, it will be an in-person auction, where "unique and large" items will be sold, according to Deel.
