New app lets you reserve Vols parking online

Finding parking on game day isn't always a fun experience. A new app is trying to make it easier for fans to find a tailgating spot.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Jane Whitfield knows finding parking on game day can be a challenge, so when her nephew found a parking spot online, she was excited.

"It's really hard to find parking on game day," the Tennessee alumna said. "We were very lucky that my nephew and I found this online."

They used the new Clutch! app to find a spot outside the Volunteer Hotel on Cumberland Avenue. They paid for it ahead of time and showed up Saturday to tailgate with friends and family.

"We all piled into the Suburban as much people and food and drinks and fun as we could," she said. "We're happy to be here."

Clutch! ambassador Yahyaa Jahangir said the convenience of reserving a parking spot before game day is what makes the app worth it.

"If you already know where you're going to park right when you leave your house, it just makes it so much easier," Jahangir said. "We want everyone to have the best game day possible.

Jahangir said the app is helpful for those with spots to sell as well. Instead of having to hold a sign up all afternoon, they can list their spots on the app and sell them ahead of time.

"You can list how many spots you have, what amenities you have, if people can tailgate, if people can use the restroom, etc.," he said. "It helps everyone get their game days back."

Clutch! has spots available for the upcoming South Carolina, UAB and Vanderbilt games. Prices range from $28.25 to $275.75 depending on location and amenities.
