BrickUniverse LEGO Convention kicked off in Knoxville

There were giant LEGO displays built by professional LEGO artists.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Convention Center became a massive playground of creativity.

The BrickUniverse LEGO Convention kicked off Saturday.

It brings more than 40-thousand square feet of hands-on activities all using LEGOs. We're talking giant LEGO displays built by professional LEGO artists.

One artist showed off a mini replica of Knoxville's Henley Bridge.

"There are 73,000 LEGO bricks in this bridge, said Peter Campbell Knoxville LEGO Club hobbyist. "It's got 270 individual lights installed on it with over a thousand feet of wiring and about 600 hours to complete the project."

The event continues Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
