KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The sands of time can be tough on historic properties everywhere, and sometimes, those places can disappear if not looked after, lost forever. Knox Heritage and the East Tennessee Preservation Alliance are working to make sure that doesn't happen.
The two groups have released their 2019 lists for properties that could be at risk of being lost, what they describe as "local traditions with a goal to strengthen advocacy efforts to save these historic places," a release from ETPA said about the two lists. The two groups work together to preserve those kinds of places.

"ETPA releases this list to remind property owners, community leaders, and the public about how quickly important places can fade away due to neglect and the lack of a realistic plan for their preservation," it said. "Saving these historic places will conserve resources, maintain beautiful architecture, sustain the local economy, create jobs, grow heritage tourism, stabilize neighborhoods, and keep the community connected with its shared history."

-American Temperance University Memorial Building – Harriman, Roane County
-Tennessee Railroad Depot - Oneida, Scott County
-Hogskin Creek Bridge, Grainger County
-Bowman House, Loudon County
-New Salem Baptist Church – Sevierville, Sevier County
-Former Tennessee Military Institute - Sweetwater, Monroe County
-Stonecipher-Kelly House - Morgan County (near Wartburg)

Knox Heritage's Fragile and Fading list includes historic properties in Knox County that are "in immediate need of a preservation plan" in a similar vein to ETPA's list.
