TDOT: Temporary lane closures on Alcoa Highway finish up early

The closures were planned to last from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday.

ALCOA, Tenn. — Update: Planned short-term lane closures in the southbound lanes of Alcoa Highway on Wednesday finished early, TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi said on Twitter.

The closures were planned to last from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., but finished shortly after 11 a.m.

Original Story: There will be some short-term lane closures in the southbound lanes of Alcoa Highway on Wednesday, March 20.

These closures will be just south of the McGhee Tyson Airport entrance from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A contractor is removing some large pine trees from the west side of Alcoa Highway so it will be stopping traffic periodically as they bring them down in case any debris falls towards the roadway.

Traffic will be temporarily held for each tree. Once it is on the ground, crews will let traffic clear before dropping another tree.

There will be uniformed officers on-site to assist with these lane closures.
