Tennessee Theatre releases holiday ornaments celebrating its 90th anniversary

The ornaments are handcrafted by European artisans and are "heirloom-quality" pieces, a news release from the theater said.

Knoxville — Two new glass ornaments from the Tennessee Theatre are now on sale for the holidays, a news release from the theater said. The ornaments commemorate the 90 years of entertainment the theater has put on, and funds raised will go to support 90 more years of its shows.

One of the ornaments depicts the outside of the theater, its iconic sign and the number 90 in honor of the anniversary, as well details celebrating the theatre's musical, theatrical and cinematic history, the release said, like a violin, theater masks, ballet slippers and other icons. The theater is selling them for $45.

The other ornament is a limited-edition redesign of the theater's first annual ornament in 2016, the release said, which is a replica of the theater's iconic sign adorned with Swarovski crystal. 90 of these ornaments were made for the 90th anniversary as a fundraiser for the theater, and are for sale for $250.

“These ornaments are a lovely way to commemorate the Tennessee Theatre’s 90th anniversary, while raising funds to help keep the theatre going for 90 more years,” Tennessee Theatre Executive Director Becky Hancock said. “These two heirloom ornaments add elegance and local significance to holiday décor, and we hope will serve as a cherished keepsake for years to come. We appreciate all that our community does to support our beloved theatre, and we look forward to providing entertainment and programming for many years to come.”
