Jamestown mayor Darlene Davis dies after cancer battle

The City of Jamestown is mourning the loss of its mayor.

Jamestown, Tenn. — Darlene Davis, mayor of Jamestown, passed away Saturday at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville after a yearlong cancer battle.

The 68-year-old had been mayor since Dec. 1, 2016. No decision has been made or discussed about her successor. Jamestown city recorder Gail Dishmon says the board of aldermen will meet sometime after Davis's funeral. They can pick a member of the board to serve our the remainder of her term or select another candidate.

There is a visitation Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jennings Funeral Homes Chapel in Jamestown.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church, and the burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Her body will lie in repose at the church from noon to 2 p.m.
