Bearden Orange Theory Fitness is sweating for St. Jude

The Bearden location has a close tie to the special cause.

KNOXVILLE — Orange Theory Fitness in Bearden is sweating to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital, and for the center, the cause is personal.

The gym hosted the Braxton Brave fundraiser Sunday to raise money for the children at St. Jude. Braxton is a young boy who is currently receiving treatment for brain and spinal cancer.

His aunt, Mary Ford, is a loyal member at Orange Theory. She said she is glad her favorite workout spot is able to help more than just her nephew.

"St. Jude's is near and dear to my heart, and now that I have a family member that's experiencing it, I just felt like it was an opportunity to really showcase St. Jude and give him a little bit of honor as well because he's a strong kid and he's fighting hard," Ford said.

The Braxton Brave fundraiser was one of the many events the gym will host over the next month. Many other Orange Theory members have personal connections to children who have received treatment from St. Jude. The Bearden location is the flagship for the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer happening Sept. 22.

You can stop into Orange Theory Bearden and make a donation until Sept. 22. The gym also encourages you to be a member of its team at the St. Jude Race at the Zoo. You do not have to be an Orange Theory member to sign up. Click here to register and use the code "HALF" to join the team.
