The Little Ponderosa Zoo in Clinton, Tennessee welcomed a little alpaca that was struggling Tuesday night.
The zoo is thanking Hardin Valley Veterinarian Dr. Nathan Butler who worked to induce treatment into the female alpaca during the late hours of the night.
According to the zoo’s Facebook page, the alpaca is now doing well due to the treatment that Dr. Butler gave her.
The baby alpaca has been since named Maybell. Her mother was an alpaca rescue and when she was born, her mother rejected her.
Zoo owner James Cox said since the mother's milk was not available, Butler had to give the little alpaca life-saving plasma.
The zoo thanked Dr. Butler as officials believe that had the treatment not been done at the time that Butler did it, the result for the alpaca may not have been as positive.
