Rain doesn't damper runners in Covenant Health Knoxville 5K, kids run

Runner tied up their laces to hit the track in the Covenant Health Knoxville 5K and kids run on Saturday.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Dozens of runners raced in the Covenant Health Knoxville 5K despite a rain delay on Saturday. Before the 5K, kids had fun getting ready for their race as well.

The kids were able to warm-up a little bit with Missy Kane ahead of the Covenant Health Knoxville Kids Run. Dozens of kids from East Tennessee came out to run in that race. The event was meant to encourage many children to get into the habit of regular exercise.

Some rain showers rolled through parts of Downtown Knoxville, causing a delay, but shortly after 7:30 p.m., those 5k runners hit the track!

That race started at the Clinch Avenue Bridge and finished on the 50-yard line in Neyland Stadium.

On Sunday, 10News will provide live coverage of the 2018 Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon starting at 7 until 11 a.m. The actual race kicks off at 7:30 a.m.

Here's a look at a few of those 5K runners who took off to Neyland on Saturday evening.
