Recipe: Bourbon glazed pork chop

Ingredients:

  • 4 pork chops
  • 2 cups of prepared fried onions (such as French’s)*
  • 2 teaspoons of canola oil
  • 1 clove of garlic, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • ½ cup of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of your preferred bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon of Tabasco Sauce
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • * Fried onions can be swapped for freshly prepared onion rings, if you prefer

Directions:

  • Heat a large sauté pan over medium-high heat.
  • Season pork chops with salt and pepper. Oil sauté pan with 1 teaspoon of canola oil.
  • Place pork chops in pan and cook until internal temperature reaches 145 degrees F.
  • While pork chops are cooking, warm remaining canola oil in a small sauce pot on medium heat. Add garlic and onions, and cook until softened.
  • Add beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar and bourbon to sauce pot, and mix to combine. Allow to reduce for approx. 5 minutes on medium heat, stirring frequently. Glaze consistency should resemble syrup.
  • Remove pork chops from pan and plate. Top each pork chop with glaze, followed by generous portion of fried onions. Drizzle remaining glaze over fried onions for added flavor.
  • Serve alongside your favorite homemade sides, such as mashed potatoes.

Recipe serves four.
