A semi truck driver died Friday morning after their rig went off eastbound Interstate 40 in Cocke County at an overpass and crashed onto the road below.
Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes told WNPC 92.3 Country Radio that he arrived at the crash and tried to revive the driver, but was unable to.
According to the Cocke County Emergency Management Agency, the truck crashed onto Golf Course Road near the Cocke County Country Club, blocking the road entirely.
Cocke County EMA said it expects to have the road reopened late by Friday afternoon. Traffic on I-40 was not affected.
