Blount Co. Sheriff investigating bomb threat at Heritage High School

The school was evacuated after a bomb threat listing the first names of several students was found written in a boy's bathroom.

Heritage High School was evacuated Tuesday after a bomb threat was found written on the wall of a boy's bathroom in the school, the Blount County Sheriff's Office said.

The threat was discovered around 2:30 p.m. The note contained the first names of several students, officials said.

The building was evacuated and the sheriff's office and school resource officers, along with K-9 teams, searched the school.

Officials said no bomb or other suspicious items were found. School officials contacted the parents and guardians of the students listed in the note, the sheriff's office said.

"The Sheriff's Office takes all bomb threats very seriously," BCSO said in a post on their Facebook page. "The Heritage High School School Resource Officer and other deputies are continuing their investigation into this bomb threat, and they are following up on any and all leads regarding this incident."

Anyone with information about the threat is asked to contact Blount County dispatch at 865-983-3620. You can also leave an anonymous tip on the sheriff's office 24-hour hotline at 865-273-5200.
