Crews almost finished with First Creek Greenway extension

Crews are adding the final touches on a new segment of the First Creek Greenway in North Knoxville.

Crews are finishing up the First Creek Greenway extension. The new segment will connect Woodland Avenue to Edgewood Park.

The Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department plans to eventually connect the new segment to the greenway at Broadway and Cecil Avenue.

This comes nearly a year after the Knoxville City Council approved a $1.22 million contract to expand the greenway from Fulton High School to the Larry Cox Senior Center.

The city is planning to hold a ribbon cutting for the expansion in early April.

This extension is one of more than 11 miles of new greenways all across the city as a way to connect neighborhoods and parks with bike and walking trails.
