A Knoxville church celebrated its 175th anniversary Sunday.
The congregation at First Baptist Church sang with joy as they kicked off celebrations for the anniversary. The church started back in 1843 but moved to its current location in downtown Knoxville in 1924.
One of the church's minsters said through all 175 years, the church has enjoyed helping Knoxville grow.
"I believe this church has payed a big part in the history of Knoxville because it's centrally located and it's always been a church that has reached out to the community and cared about the community. There has been so many wonderful ministries out of this church that we started. In fact, there are several churches in Knoxville that were started by this church."
The church said it has various celebrations planned throughout the year to celebrate the anniversary.
