Thursday, January 18

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra is performing Bohemian Rapsodies Thursday and Friday night at the Tennessee Theatre. The concerts feature a beat-boxing instrumental trio from Brooklyn. Tickets start at $15 with the concerts at 7:30 p.m.

The Arts at Pellissippi State Community College kicks of its spring season with work from Tatiana Potts, an artist who pulls her inspiration her Slovakian heritage. The free exhibit runs through February 2 in the Bagwell Center for Media and Art Gallery at 10915 Hardin Valley Road.

Friday, January 19

Friday is Country Night at the Knoxville Ice Bears hockey game against the Mississippi River Kings at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. The game starts at 7:35 p.m.

Check out some docs who can rock at the annual Dock Rock for Health. In this “battle of the bands” event featuring physician musicians, each group represents a local health charity. Tickets range from $10 to $100. The doors open at 7 p.m. at The International.

Poet and songwriter RB Morris is performing at the Laurel Theater at 8 p.m. alongside guitarist Hector Qirko. Tickets are $15.

Saturday, January 20

Popular cartoon characters like Sponge Bob Square Pants will be at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum on Saturday when the Knoxville Ice Bears face the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs at 7:35 p.m.

Marches around Tennessee are planned for Saturday marking the one year anniversary of the Women’s March. The Women’s March 2.0 is meeting at Market Square at 1 p.m.

Come listen to some live bluegrass music to help the Little Ponderosa zoo. The event is free but any cash donations will go straight to the zoo. The music kicks off at 7 p.m. at 205 Main Street in Clinton.

Are you the next big Dollywood Star? Dollywood Entertainment is hosting auditions for singers on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Performers must be at least 17 years old. Find out more at www.DollywoodAuditions.com.

Bring your little adventurer to Ijams Nature Center for ‘Animals in the Winter.’ Kids ages 5 to 7 will learn how animals spend the winter, where they go, and what they eat. You can register at ijams.org/events/

The beloved story of Maria and the Von Trapp family comes alive at the Clayton Center for the Arts on Saturday. The Sound of Music production begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Clayton Center box office.

The Lady Vols take on Mississippi State on Sunday at 3 p.m. for the #WEBACKPAT game at Thompson-Boling Arena. You can also catch the game on ESPN2.

Enjoy gospel classics and new Christian favorites when Grammy-Award-winner Bill Gaither performs at the Wallace Memorial Baptist Church alongside Gaither Vocal Band. The faith-filled evening begins at 6 p.m. More information at www.premierproductions.com.

Frisson, a New York City-based ensemble made up of recent graduates from top musical schools like Julliard and Yale are playing at the Pollard Auditorium in Oak Ridge. The concert starts at 4 p.m. with a lecture beforehand at 3 p.m. For more information visit www.ORCMA.org.

The First Baptist Knoxville church is celebrating its 175th anniversary on Sunday with a worship service and luncheon debuting a documentary series called Becoming the People of God that illustrates First Baptist’s faith journey over the years. The worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. and will include a choral arrangement by composer John Purifoy.
