Superintendent asks students to help call off school

Anderson County Schools Superintendent Tim Parrott issued a challenge for his students on their snowday.

The Anderson County Superintendent of Schools didn't want his students to have nothing to do on their snowday - so he set them to work making videos about why they should call off school.

Superintendent Tim Parrott asked students to send him videos about being safe during winter weather.

"Students I need your help to make a video about being safe during bad weather," Superintendent Tim Parrott tweeted late Wednesday morning.

Parrott gave a few guidelines for the videos - "nothing dangerous, in good taste, 20 seconds long" - and said each one should end with "this is the reason ACS will be closed tomorrow."

A few hours later, Parrott said there had been so many good submissions, he couldn't pick just one winner.

The superintendent used the four winning videos to announce Anderson County Schools would be closed again on Thursday due to the lingering snow, cold and slick road conditions.

The four winning students are each receiving a $25 gift card and a special gift, the superintendent said.
